I provide counseling and support to individuals and couples on a variety of issues, including:
life transitions and life adjustment difficulties
relationship and communication issues
anxiety
depression
trauma
parenting issues
stress management
grief and loss
self-esteem/self-confidence issues
spirituality and life balance
I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a treatment technique that has been shown to effectively help people with the distress of traumatic memories and painful past experiences. This involves using bilateral eye movements, tones or buzzing sensors while following a prescribed protocol and allows the mind and nervous system to reprocess stuck or negative experiences and to reduce their emotional charge.
Your confidentiality is protected, both by law and by my practices. In cases of insurance or employee assistance programs, however, I am expected to report certain information, such as dates of service, diagnoses, or general counseling issues to these companies.
Appointments are generally scheduled in 55-minute sessions for indviduals and couples. Some clients, however, find that 85-minute sessions are more beneficial, and I offer these as well. While I do not provide emergency services, I will make every effort to return phone calls and/or schedule appointments within 24 hours. Brief phone calls will not be charged. If an appointment is not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, there is a reasonable "fee for time lost" charge.

My regular rate is $130 for a 55-minute session and $195 for an 85-minute session. I am also a provider with several insurance companies. You may very likely be able to use your insurance to help cover the costs of counseling. I also offer a negotiated sliding scale fee if need be for persons who are not covered by insurance and are paying for their own therapy.
